Objective

         - I completed the Associate Degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering

    The University of the West Indies 1994 – 1999

        -  I will graduate in May, 1999 with Bachelors of Science Degree, majoring in Computer Science                 (honors expected)

Work Experience

The Rainbow Reef Hotel

I worked at hotel’s reception font desk performing check-in and check-out procedures for hotel guests, handling guest enquires and guest complaints as well as other areas of the hotel’s administration. I worked there during the period January, 1995 to June, 1998.

Budg-Buy Food Fair

I worked with the Budg-Buy Food Fair supermarket chain as a computer support technician, solving hardware and user problems. I was employed there during the summer of 1998.

Skills / Experience

Personal Computer Hardware

I have intermediate/expert knowledge in the area of PC-hardware, which I gained in the few months as a technician. This includes building computer systems from the bottom up as well as solving common hardware problems. I also have my own PC, which was built from individual parts.

Programming

Most of my programming experience was gained from developing applications in Java 1.2 for course assignments. However, I also have experience with C++ (Borland ver.3.0), HTML, some Visual Basic, along with MS Access. I have done one major development project, which can be viewed at http://www.netnoir.com/caribview , and also developed my personal site (see above for url). I have also worked on a mini-project using Ms Access with Cold Fusion.

Teamwork

I've worked extensively with group projects during my final year of school where we had to meet, plan and develop programs for assessment and in some cases, group presentation. I approach group assignments  in a rigorous manner because of the accommodations that have to be made in other people's schedules.

At my hotel job, teamwork was very essential, in terms of communication and corresponding guest information. This has lead to most of my teamwork skills.

Software

Extensive experience with the Windows 95/98 Operating system and some experience with Windows NT, and with the Microsoft Office family of products. Implemented Cold Fusion database connectivity using MS Access as the Database. Six months experience using JDK ver. 1.1 - 1.2 along with the API and experienced using Swing Components.

I held a valid driver's license for the past 7 years.
